Elphaba Thropp aka The Wicked Witch of the West

I just finished reading the book "Wicked - the life and times of the Wicked Witch of the West". Great book and naturally I got inspired to draw the witch. Here's my version of this troubled young woman.

  1. Hey Michelle,

Just found your blog through Dexter Smith's.

Love your work and the stuff you did on Superman and Batman,

Used to watch it all the time growing up.
Love that sketch you use for your blog header.

    -Best, Andrew

  3. Hi Andrew and thanks! Dexter is quite an amazing talent. I only hope to be half as good!

Much obliged, Mr. Maguire! That's quite a compliment coming from you. It was easy for me to imagine what she looked like from your book (which I thoroughly enjoyed). The challenge was to make her appealing for someone with green skin and a pointed nose. In contrast, I have to say I wasn't too crazy for the portrayal of the characters in the theatrical production. Too glamorous. But that's just my opinion. Anyway, thanks again for nice comments!

  4. I am a huge fan of the musical and I know of the book and all of it's plot. I love the way you did this picture! The pointed nose was perfect and the Cat was just- OH! Loved it!
